I went on a Rest and Rejuvenation retreat at the Omega Institute in the country near Rhinebeck, New York.
It was beautiful, peaceful and definitely rejuvenating!
My campsite was at the top of a big hill and the entire grounds are hilly so I can't say it was restful but the exercise was good for me.
The food was buffet style, abundant and wonderful - gluten-free options at every meal.
I spent many hours at a table in their cafe or on it's patio drawing and painting. My favourite drawing was gifted to a woman there who gave me an Eden Energy Medicine session that I could immediately tell had changed my life. The results have stayed and it's so awesome! The photo is unfortunately not the best quality but I'll share anyway:
I found myself just being present and, as a result, only took photos on the final day - and not many! I have a few regrets about the lack of photos but zero regrets about being that present and relaxed. I didn't worry even once about my cats, gardens or house. In fact I hardly worried about anything at all (I'm usually a chronic worrier).
Here are a few Omega grounds pictures. Click on them to see a larger view:

That's a lovely design Liberty, and I'm so glad you had the opportunity to get away and be relaxed and in the present moment!
ReplyDeleteThank you Rachel :)
ReplyDeleteI am so glad too. and I'm so grateful to be retaining a lot of it upon return.
Libby, I can just picture you beaming while telling about this time away....I am just so happy for you...as the ad used to say: "You've come a long way, baby!" ha Couldn't resist that.
ReplyDeleteJust great! Will look forward to more reports from this adventure, when and if you feel like doing so....wonderful to know that the results are lasting!
Love,
Ruth
Thank you Ruth for sharing in the happiness! I sure have come a long way!

p.s. I love your profile picture :)
what a lovely time for your personal re-energizing. The design is really special in a couple ways, one --you know it it already bringing joy to the person who now has it and two-- you grabbed a photo of it before it went away so you could share it with all of us!
ReplyDeleteWow! Glad to hear the Gluten Free was part of the buffet too. It's hard to eat away when you aren't the one making the food. Glad you had a great time!
Hi Stephanie,
ReplyDeletethank you for reminding me of the joy it is bringing to it's new owner! I keep forgetting about that for some reason :)
What a fantastic gift to give yourself...beautiful greenery....time to ponder and sketch....renewed spirit!
ReplyDeleteJust wonderful :)
Glad you had such a nice time at your retreat!! I often feel that way too about picture taking....it's definitely something I do when I'm in a more outgoing mindset! Hey, now you gotta tell me more about that "Eden Energy Medicine"....I feel like I should know! LOL!!
ReplyDeleteI'm still checking in on my blogs I follow. Just havent had much to say Hi lately. What a wonderful retreat,I would love to try something like that someday. The grounds look beautiful I bet it was peaceful.I found out I have a pinched nerve,so I've been going to the chiropractor and its been helping.I need some yoga or something to get me centered.Sorry to babble you've allways been easy to talk to.
ReplyDelete@Cameron - thank you! It was wonderful :)
ReplyDelete@Eden - 'Eden' Energy Medicine is a system of alternative healing tools that people can use to return themselves to health/vitality etc. Here's a short little video (if you are new to this, it can look reeeeally weird but it's awesome! :-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vr-FEoY440g )
@Tammy - I'm so sorry to hear about your pinched nerve! (but glad that the chiro is helping). I got a lot of help for pinched nerves from a physiotherapist... though it only worked when I was motivated to actually DO the exercises daily at home. I hope that you find something centering for you. I have never tried yoga but I've found Jon Kabat-Zin's mindfulness meditations excellent. Many libraries have them to borrow.
If you do find something that works for you, I'd love to hear about it!
Sending healing thoughts your way.
♥☺♥
